CV
Born 1967
Dipl. Geol., 1995 Geological investigations of the Acker-Bruchberg and Ilsenburg-Quartzite in the Harz Mts.
Dr. rer. nat., 1999 Sedimentology and biostratigraphy of the Lower Carboniferous quartzite formation of the Hörre-Gommern-Zone in the Rhenohercynian Zone, Germany.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Stratigraphy – biostratigraphy (especially palynostratigraphy) and lithostratigraphy in the Palaeozoic (focus on Carboniferous).
Palynology - organic microfossils of the palaeozoic, especially evolution of Devonian to Carboniferous sporomorphs. Palynology of carbonate platforms, especially in the Carboniferous of Central and Western Europe.
Facies analysis - interpretation of palaeoenvironments based on sedimentary organic matter (palynofacies) - interaction of sedimentary facies and palynofacies. Distribution and preservation of organic matter in different sedimentary environments, with special reference to carbonate shelfs. Organofacies analysis for hydrocarbon source rock potential.
Organic Maturation – Changes of organic matter due to thermal influence based on palynomorph colour indices (spores, acritarchs). Determination of palaeotemperatures by vitrinite reflectance.
Basin analysis - focused on Palaeozoic basins of Central and Western Europe (especially Carboniferous).
